Leveraging Virtual Assistants To Take Your Business To The Next Level

Listen Now!

Barbara is an investor, entrepreneur, and Founder & CEO of The Virtual Hub - a business she started by accident that scaled quickly to become one of the leading companies that integrates in-house trained virtual assistants into clients’ businesses. Barbara’s mission is to eradicate business overwhelm and remove the friction that stunts growth by helping clients to optimize their operations using offshore teams of virtual assistants, clever automations and streamlined processes.

Key Points in the Conversation with Brad Friedman of The Digital Slice Podcast:
  • Barbara talks about how she stumbled into founding The Virtual Hub after a 10-year career in the financial industry
  • Barbara talks about the fact that every size business has departments
  • Barbara talks about the importance of delegating tasks so you have some time to enjoy your life
  • Barbara talks about how “time” is the most valuable resource.
  • Barbara also talks about how she built a company where they train their own VAs.

Key Takeaways:

“Every business has departments. And every department has a set of kind of tasks or projects or things that need to be done on a daily, weekly, monthly basis to keep the engine of a business moving forward. And when people start to see it that way, you start to bucket out those departments and think, well, what are the things that need to be done? So I would encourage any business owner to first sit down and think about all the things that are happening, and do you really need to be the person to do those things?”

“A virtual assistant, in my view, is not a writer. A writer is a writer, an assistant is an assistant, and we, I tend to focus on, on the fact that these assistants are people who are assisting those who are experts in their fields. Now, there'll be people who argue with me about this and say that, you know, oh no, we have virtual assistants that are graphic designers and all this kind of thing. I still would argue that the term assistant means that they are being delegated work by somebody else.”

“We train VAs initially in being great VAs in certain areas. And then we work with a client account to figure out what are the personalized trainings for that account that this VA needs. And we do that outside the client's time. We do it on our time and then we also take a team approach to client account.”
